Details

Statistics on taxi and private hire vehicles (PHV) in England at the end of March 2018 show:

  • there were 285,400 licensed taxis and PHVs
  • 74% of all licensed vehicles were PHVs
  • 58% of licensed taxis were wheelchair accessible
  • all taxis in London were wheelchair accessible
  • 361,500 taxi or private hire vehicle licences
  • 62% of licences were PHV only licences
  • 16% were taxi only licences
  • 22% were dual licences
