Statistics on motor vehicles that were registered for the first time during January to March 2016.

The statistics are derived from data held by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), which administers vehicle registration and licensing records in the United Kingdom (Great Britain prior to July 2014).

The latest figures show:

  • 916,000 vehicles were registered for the first time in Great Britain and was up 5% on the same period in 2015
  • a total of 11,755 new ultra-low emission vehicles were registered for the first time in the UK, up 31% from the same period in 2015
  • 36.7 million vehicles were registered for use on the roads in Great Britain, up 2.5% on one year previously
