Information on motor vehicles that were registered for the first time during July to September 2015.

The statistics are derived from data held by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA), which administers vehicle registration and licensing records in the United Kingdom (Great Britain prior to July 2014).

During July to September 2015:

  • 876,000 vehicles were registered for the first time in Great Britain during July to September 2015.This was 8% up on 2014, but still 2% lower than in the peak year of 2002
  • a total of 6,906 new ultra-low emission vehicles were registered for the first time (in the UK), up 36% from the same period in 2014
  • average CO2 emissions from new cars registered during July to September 2015 was 121 g/km. This was 3.0% lower than in the same quarter of 2014
  • there were 36.5 million vehicles registered for use on the roads in Great Britain, up 1.8% on one year previously
