Details

This tool brings together available indicators at England and local authority levels on the wider determinants of health with links to further resources.

The Wider Determinants of Health tool is designed to:

  • draw attention to the broad range of individual, social and environmental factors which influence our health
  • provide the public health system with intelligence on the wider determinants of health, to help improve population health and reduce health inequalities

This update contains:

  • 2 indicators new to the Fingertips platform; the percentage of adults cycling for travel at least 3 days per week and the percentage of adults walking for travel at least 3 days per week
  • an update of 4 existing indicators to add new data; affordability of home ownership, unemployment, long-term claimants of Jobseeker’s Allowance, and Employment and Support Allowance claimants
  • 2 indicators currently in other Fingertips profiles but new to this tool; children in care and teenage mothers
