Changes for this release

Statistics for winter 2020 to 2021 onwards are produced under a new methodology due to a change in data source. Therefore, users should avoid making comparisons to statistics produced under the previous methodology.

Following the change in data source, statistics from this release are labelled as experimental and will only include recipient statistics. Household level statistics are under development.

You can find more information about these changes in the background, quality and methodology report.

Pre-release access

In addition to staff who are responsible for the production and quality assurance of the statistics, up to 24-hour pre-release access is provided to ministers and other officials. We publish the job titles and organisations of the people who have been granted up to 24-hour pre-release access to the latest Winter Fuel Payments statistics.
