Suspension or expiry of a veterinary Marketing Authorisation, Homeopathic Remedy or Animal Test Certificate
The Veterinary Medicines Directorate may suspend or expire a licence to market an animal medicine if it fails to comply with the regulations.
A marketing authorisation (MA), animal test certificate (ATC) or homeopathic registration (VHR) may be suspended or expired if it fails to comply with the Veterinary Medicines Regulations.
The holder of an MA, VHR or ATC may also request expiry of their authorisation.
Suspension and expiry means no further product may be released by the Qualified Person (QP) from the date of suspension or expiry, but existing stock may remain on the market for sale and supply unless the supply of the product has been banned. The holder of the licence may also be asked to recall supplies of product that are currently on the market.
Where a recall is needed, a notification will be published.
To expire an MA, VHR or ATC, you must send an email to: [email protected].
You can find a list of suspended products by referring to the Veterinary Medicines Directorate’s Product Information database.
