Questions about the regulatory framework
The SSRO provides support to the Ministry of Defence (MOD) and contractors in relation to the regulatory framework established by the Defence Reform Act 2014 and the Single Source Contract Regulations 2014. The SSRO’s support is designed to:
- inform people about the regulatory framework, the role of the SSRO and aspects of its work, such as guidance, compliance reviews and referrals;
- assist the MOD and current or prospective contractors to understand and apply the SSRO’s guidance on contract pricing and reporting; and
- help the MOD and contractors to use the Defence Contracts Analysis and Reporting System (DefCARS).

Freedom of Information requests
The Freedom of Information Act 2000 provides public access to information held by public authorities, including the SSRO. Under the FOI Act, the SSRO is obliged to publish certain information about its activities and external parties are entitled to request information from the SSRO. The SSRO routinely publishes information about its governance and operations and its responses to requests for information to promote transparency for stakeholders. Requests about personal data
The Data Protection Act 2018 provides individuals with certain rights in connection with personal data held about them. Individuals can ask the SSRO for a copy of any personal data it holds about them and information on how it is being processed. The SSRO procedure for responding to subject access requests sets out how to make a request for access to personal data and how the SSRO will respond to such request.
