Submitting Objections/Representations
If you wish to submit a representation or objection to a Harbour Order application, it can either be submitted via email to [email protected] or posted to the address below:
Harbour Orders
Marine Management Organisation
Lancaster House
Hampshire Court
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE4 7YH
All representations or objections:
- must be received by MMO within the 42 day consultation period. (Representations or objections received before or after this period will not be considered)
- must be made in writing
- should quote the case reference on the notice
- must state the grounds of the objection or representation
- must indicate who is making the objection or representation
- must give a postal or email address to which correspondence relating to the objection or representation may be sent.
Representations will only be considered by MMO if they relate to provisions included in or the development to be authorised by the Harbour Order subject to consultation.
We are not able to deal with complaints relating to the daily functioning of the harbour as this is not the responsibility of the MMO.
Representations made solely during pre-application consultation are also not relevant to the determination of an application.
All representations or objections will be sent to the applicant. The applicant will engage with the person/body who submitted the representation or objection, with the intention of reaching an agreement. This period may take a number of months. However, there may be cases where an agreement cannot be reached and the MMO will be asked to make a determination, alternatively the MMO may call a public inquiry, depending on the case and nature of outstanding objections.
A summary of consultation responses will be published on the MMO’s public register when the MMO makes a determination on an application.
