The Pig Carcase Grading Scheme: register for the scheme
How to join the Pig Carcase Grading Scheme, administered by the Rural Payments Agency (RPA).

If your abattoir slaughters 500 or more clean pigs every week (on a rolling annual average), you must be registered with the Pig Carcase Grading Scheme. Clean pigs are animals that have not been used for breeding. You must register within 28 days of becoming an operator of such an abattoir.
The scheme is run by RPA’s Meat Technical Schemes team.

After you’ve registered, you must tell RPA’s Meat Technical Schemes team, within 28 days, if any of the following details change.
- the operator of the premises or the operator’s trading name
- the address or telephone number of the premises or the owner’s registered office
- the approval number of the abattoir (assigned by the Food Standards Agency).
