The Science & Innovation Network (SIN) in Austria maintains and develops science, technology, and innovation (ST&I) collaboration in priority areas between the UK and Austria.

This collaboration includes government ministries, academia and science policy, as well as funding agencies, start-ups, and industry in both countries.

Our officer in Austria is part of the embassy team in Vienna and forms part of the SIN DACH (Deutschland, Austria, Confoederatio Helvetica Switzerland) Team.

Responsibilities and priorities

SIN Austria’s main priority is to enable policy exchange between the UK and Austria. We aim to support mutually beneficial science, technology, and innovation (ST&I) collaborative partnerships in priority areas and support UK strength in ST&I.

Thematic priorities are:

  • emerging technologies including quantum and artificial intelligence (AI)
  • shared wider priorities (global health and life sciences, climate, and environment) across the DACH region
  • research culture including research security
