We received 32 responses to the consultation, from individuals, representatives from the tobacco and e-cigarette industry, and tobacco control stakeholders.

Tobacco control stakeholders showed support for the proposals, and the industry raised concerns mainly around timing and cost.

The Department of Health and Social Care has used the feedback from this consultation to inform guidance on picture warnings and notification systems.

Consultation description

The consultation document sets out government plans in the event that the UK leaves the EU with no deal, for:

a new domestic system to allow producers to notify e-cigarettes in accordance with existing rules (part 1)
a new domestic system to allow producers to notify tobacco products in accordance with existing rules (part 2)
the introduction of new picture warnings for tobacco products, based on the picture library owned by the Australian government (part 3)

We welcome feedback on any practical issues that you think should be considered as part of the implementation of changes.
