By using an approach we will be able to focus our time and effort on the highest risk developments.

Most consultation responses will be based on standard comments. However, in a minority of cases there may be complex issues related to the permit which need to be understood as part of the planning process.

Here further assessment will be needed and possibly parallel tracking of the permit and planning applications. Although extremely rare, where we believe it is unlikely that we will issue a permit for a proposed development, we will make this clear as early as possible to prevent wasted time and effort.

This approach will have benefits for developers, operators and planning decision makers, enabling a more reliable indication of the likely outcome of planning and permitting applications early in the process.
