Part 5 of the bill will:

  • improve public services through better use of data whilst safeguarding citizens’ privacy
  • allow government to identify persons eligible for benefits or services to enable help to reach those in need
  • improve government’s approach to combating fraud against the public sector
  • provide better support to citizens to help manage their debt to the public sector more effectively
  • cut the compliance burden on business by allowing statistics to be collected from data already held by public authorities
