Details

Although there had been evidence that hantaviruses were present in the UK rodent population, transmission to humans was historically sporadic. A number of new human cases of hantavirus infection acquired in the UK have been diagnosed since 2013 and data from new seroprevalence studies suggest a higher prevalence than expected in certain risk groups. This risk assessment was competed to assess the overall risk from hantaviruses to the UK population.
