Details

On reviewing the evidence from this review, the council concluded that there was insufficient evidence to recommend changes to the list of prescribed diseases for which people can claim Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.

However, the evidence did suggest that interstitial fibrosis in coal workers is nearly always associated with changes that would allow the disability from the fibrosis to be taken into account as part of the assessment for coal workers pneumoconiosis or chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
