Details

The council reviewed literature, evidence from experts and made a call for evidence. The review was extended to consider the association of silica and several rheumatic diseases.

After reviewing the evidence related to renal disease, or any of the autoimmune rheumatic disorders in relation to occupational exposure to silica, the council was unable to recommend changes to the list of prescribed diseases for which people can claim Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit.
