Details

The Annual Prison Performance Ratings are published to ensure transparency of the final performance assessments of both public sector and privately-managed prisons across England and Wales.

The Annual Prison Performance Ratings covers overall performance assessments for all prisons, alongside assessments for individual performance measures for each prison. This publication covers reporting for the period between the 1st of April 2017 and the 31st of March 2018. The overall performance of each prison within this period has been graded into one of the following four bands:

Level 4: Exceptional performance; Level 3: Meeting the majority of targets; Level 2: Overall performance is of concern; Level 1: Overall performance is of serious concern.

Pre-release list

The HMPPS Annual Digest is produced and handled by the Ministry of Justice’s (MOJ) analytical professionals and production staff. Pre-release access of up to 24 hours is granted to the following persons:
