Defra introduced flood and coastal resilience partnership funding in 2011 and updated it in 2020. The aim of the partnership funding policy is to allow FCERM projects to share the costs using national and local sources of funding.

This guidance explains how to calculate the potential GIA funding contributions for an FCERM project using the partnership funding calculator v8 (2014).

It introduces the definitions and calculation methods for the FCERM outcome measures. These are used by Defra to make sure that public money is effective at bringing expected benefits for FCERM.

It also explains the qualifying benefits that you can include in the calculator and how to work out the duration of benefits for different types of projects. It also includes some examples of how to fill out the calculator.
